I was literally playing Mass Effect 3 ten minutes ago. Such a good series. Can’t wait for Andromeda.

ME3 was a pretty bad game, but it did have its moments. The Tuchanka arc was great.

Best game of the series as far as I’m concerned...

Miranda’s butt: still less gratuitous than EDI’s camel toe.

I love mordin. I studied chemistry in school. The first Mass Effect came out when I was in high school, making college choices, then 2 and 3 came out during my schooling. It was weirdly comforting to get to have such a scientist in your crew for 2 and 3. ANd if you get the DLC for 3, you get some awesome mordin lines. I still send this out to underclassmen at my old schol to help them remember amino acids:

I still need to get into this, especially since they’re all < $10 on the PS3 store.

Worth starting from the first one? How long would it take to play thru the entire series?

Right in the feels.

Reminds me of the Maryland Batman.

Totally worth starting from the first one. ME1 had bad driving and kinda crappy combat.... but trust me, the Comic Book Choice Editor is a pale replacement for the story in ME1.

Oh... and definately read which DLC.... I loved just about all of it.... Besides Bring Down the Sky.... if it includes a Side Character.... GET IT.

Sorry, I re-read what I wrote... I am in favor of Bring Down the Sky... actually I am having a hard time thinking of a piece of DLC that wasn’t worth it.

ME3 is a weird one, it has the highest highs and the lowest lows of the series. Even though the gameplay in general was the best out of the three there are just so many things that irk me to no end. The way Shepard acts in the intro, with that whole child business and after the missions in Thessia plus the way Cerberus and Tali’s face reveal is treated is borderline insulting. Then there’s that ending which even in it’s ‘fixed’ state is still abhorrent.

On the other hand you have moments like the Tuchanka arc, broing it up with Garrus on the Presidium, the missions with Jack and Grunt and parts of the Rannoch arc which are fairly great.

ME2 is still my personal series favourite but that too is far from perfect.

Yeah, I think that’s a fair assessment. Was bothered by the end of the Thessia mission too. Don’t defeat me in a cut-scene and then berate me for it, especially when even if we failed to secure the catalyst data, we found that it existed, and knew who had it, as opposed to it being a complete mystery. The reactions only make sense if you already knew that the catalyst was a one of a kind irreplaceable artifact rather than a black box piece of tech that the best minds in the galaxy were trying to reproduce, which is how it had been presented up to that point (why devote the galaxy’s precious resources to building an incomplete super-weapon if there’s no hope you can complete it?)

Even in the very flawed ending, some of the ending conversations at the final base, and the final scene with Anderson on the crucible were great (better to end it there perhaps, though I can imagine how much a cliff hanger would have pissed people off).
